Wing Yip is the UKs leading Oriental Food retailer to the trade and public. Based in the refurbished store in Nechells, the company has been trading for over 5 decades.
Wing Yip currently employs around 300 staff across its 4 stores and are currently seeking a dedicated Retail Team Leader to join the business. You will be working for Wing Yip at our Birmingham branch.
**About the job**
You will be required to work 5 days out of 7 days, fully flexible on a 40-hour contract.
**Role Overview**:
As our Retail Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team by ensuring all products are replenished in a timely fashion and ensure full availability, whilst displaying as per company standards.
You will also be required to review current working methods and propose new procedures that benefit the business.
This is a vital role in ensuring stock is available for our customers, which will provide support and help to maintain and improve the levels of customer service throughout the store.
The role will entail a small allocation of cleaning duties, and supervisory aspects of the team, providing cover if and or when required through absence.
**Day-to-day Operations**:
- Perform day to day tasks within the business whilst supporting and leading the rest of the team.
- Ensure all members of the team are fully trained to perform their role in an efficient and safe manner.
- Supervise daily and periodic work ensuring highest standards are achieved by supporting the supervisor overseeing staff daily ensuring they are completing tasks in a timely manner.
- To cover for the Supervisor in his/her absence.
- Ensure the team have all the equipment and or resources needed to complete their work.
- Monitor daily paperwork to ensure it is being completed correctly.
- Coach and support the team to deliver the required standards and expectations.
- Complete any return-to-work meetings with the team following staff absence.
- Be the first point of call for any performance issues within the team.
- Be responsible for a safe working environment.
- To ensure all price indication is displayed, legal and up to date.
- To ensure all chill chain and food temperature regulations about receipt and storage are followed.
- To ensure all areas of the freezer, shop floor, warehouse and goods-in are kept clean and tidy.
- To communicate to the appropriate Supervisor, Manager of any stock availability, date, rotation, or storage issues.
- To ensure all stock systems and procedures are carried out correctly to maintain stock accuracy.
- Where required to pick customer or delivery orders efficiently and accurately?
- To work safely and to abide by all Wing Yip health and safety guidelines and procedures.
- To report any health and safety issues to a supervisor or Manager immediately.
- To use all equipment correctly and safely to avoid injury to themselves or others
- To work effectively as a team, helping other areas/departments as required
- To ensure all food safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
- To carry out other reasonable requests as deemed appropriate to your job role and to the benefit of the company.
- To continue their personal development and to gain knowledge of all aspects of the department.
- To provide the best possible customer service/experience. Leading by example.
- To ensure stock is handled and moved correctly to minimise the risk of damages and the stock is rotated correctly.
**Staff Supervision**:
- Supporting recruitment and induction when required.
- Supervise staff time keeping - ensuring staff arrive and leave on time, sign in and out of the building.
- Complete refresher training with the team following toolbox talks guidance.
- Ensure all site policy and statements on notice boards are up to date and notify Line Manager of any updates required.
**Skills/Experience/Knowledge Needed**:
- Prior Leadership experience would be advantageous.
- IT skills
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- To lead and motivate the team in accordance with company core values.
- Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
- Excellent time management skills to ensure efficient completion of assigned duties.
**You will also be responsible to**:
- Work safely and ensure safety of your team and to abide by all company health and safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure efficiency of your team and help other departments as required.
- Carry out reasonable requests as deemed appropriate to your job role and to the benefit of the company.
