**Job Description**:
**Post Title: Head of Finance**
**Reporting To: Assistant Principal Finance and Corporate Services**
**Salary: From £40,029 - £43,731**

**Hours: Full time 37 hours per week Holidays: 37 days plus bank holidays**

**The Specific Nature of the Role**

The Head of Finance (HOF) plays a key central role for the college, actively working across the academic and support areas, assessing financial performance, ensuring accuracy and scrutiny of the accounts, and contributing to the success of the college’s strategic goals. The post holder will own the operational management of finance including effective internal financial controls, policies, and procedures, and ensuring timely completion of all month
- end and year-end accounts. The College is going through an exciting capital development programme over the next 18 months to improve the estate and curriculum offer, the postholder will have the opportunity to work closely with the college facilities and procurement to accurate track and ensure compliance with our funding guidelines.

The post reports to the Assistant Principal of Finance and Corporate services

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Leadership of the college’s financial planning and management reporting systems, treasury management and leadership of the finance team including appraisals and staff development.
- Manage fixed asset registers, including monitoring and reporting on capital expenditure
- Production of Management accounts, budgetary control, forecasting and cashflow
- Active member of the cross-college leadership committee
- Maintain and improve the college internal controls and finance procedures
- Statutory reporting; year end, Department for Education (DfE), Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA)
- Assist with preparation of board reports
- Lead point of contact for internal and external audits.
- Maintenance and development of the finance systems; PSF Financials and iTrent
- Support and deputise for the Assistant Principal Finance and Corporate services
- To ensure that knowledge in all financial and accounting matters relevant to the position is current and continually updated
- To manage specific projects at the request of senior management
- Support the college leadership in its strategic aims
- Be willing to undertake relevant training as required to enable the post holder to perform their duties.
- Be willing to provide evening cover when required.

- To promote and implement the policies of the corporation to ensure the efficient operation of its business, the welfare and interests of its learners & employees.
