Job description

We’re looking for a highly experienced, confident and capable Fundraising Officer to help us maximise income so that our vital work can continue. You will work in supporting our small team across all areas of fundraising, including community, corporate and trusts.

**Community Fundraising**
- Research and develop lists of potential community supporters
- Build relationships and support local community groups, individuals and organisations

**Grants, Trusts and Foundations**
- Undertake research to compile tailored prospect lists for each case for support
- Collate and maintain all cases for support to form a bid library for regular re-use
- Together with the Head of Fundraising, review grant and bid decisions and outcomes on a quarterly basis to continually learn and improve the TSA’s performance in generating income
- Make recommendations to the Head of Fundraising on future cases for support, potential prospects and the bid pipeline based on learning from this monitoring and evaluation
- Working closely with the senior management team, undertake research to identify potential sources of major income from statutory and institutional investors such as Government departments, grant-making organisations such as the Big Lottery and Comic Relief, corporate funders, livery companies and healthcare research funding agencies.

**Major Donors**
- Assist the Head of Fundraising to effectively steward existing major donor relationships, keeping them informed and involved in the work of the TSA to secure their continued support
- Research, identify and secure new major donors including individuals and foundations to grow the TSA’s network of long-term donors and benefactors, generating income to contribute to the charity’s ongoing sustainability
- Through effective networking, presentations and event: assist with the cultivation and nurture new major donor relationships

**General Responsibilities**
- Adhere to all TSA policies, procedures, values and behaviours
- Comply with all internal and external Health and Safety requirements and complete Risk Assessments as appropriate
- Working as part of a small fundraising team, you will enjoy taking on new challenges and happy to work flexibly as the TSA develops a balanced portfolio of income across regular givers, trusts and foundations, corporate partners, major donors and legacies
- Grow, nurture and maintain excellent relations with volunteers
- Attend a small number of TSA and 3rd party charity events, including for example fundraising events such as the Great North Run and London Marathon
- Play an active role in shaping the way we communicate fundraising messages to encourage participation and leading on website developments and changes for fundraising
- Develop engaging and innovative fundraising activities, campaigns and events to appeal to supporters across varied income streams

**Other requirements of the post**

The post holder must be prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of the organisation. This will entail occasional evening and weekend work. Some travel within the UK will be needed for team meetings, TSA events and training provision. This would normally require access to a car (mileage will be paid) or travel by public transport (travel cost will be covered).

A DBS disclosure will be required prior to taking up post.

**Person specification**

**Essential**
- Minimum one year as a professional fundraiser in a relevant role
- An understanding of the role and contribution of volunteers in the work of a charity
- Ability to work of own initiative and to work independently, as well as part of a small team
- Quick learner and able to onboard swiftly
- Experience of building strong working relationships with funders, partners and external stakeholders
- Experience of using Beacon or a similar CRM
- Experience of a broad range of communications tactics across media, supporter engagement, websites and social media, internal communications
- Excellent written skills including accurate and high-level document presentation skills
- Excellent proofing and checking skills, with close attention to detail
- Excellent IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, internet use and database skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines and appropriately prioritise competing deadlines
- Self-motivated with ability to plan, prioritise and manage own workload
- Effective team player who is willing to take on new challenges and work flexibly to meet the needs of the charity (including occasional evenings and weekends to deliver presentations and attend events)
