**Job summary**:
We are recruiting two policy roles within the Youth team.

The Youth team is an innovative team, within the high profile Civil Society and Youth Directorate, that has responsibility for a range of cross cutting and high profile policy areas, including delivering the National Youth Guarantee (by 2025, every young person will have access to regular clubs and activities, adventures away from home and opportunities to volunteer), supporting youth sector workforce, engaging with the youth sector, and ensuring the impactful delivery of the National Citizen Service (NCS).

**Job description**:
**1) Youth stakeholders & International**

This is an exciting role which will give the postholder the opportunity to work on an area of ministerial priority; helping to shape and lead delivery - working closely with colleagues across a range of government departments - of the new cross-government Youth Forum. This is a joint-ministerial group bringing together policies to support young people and delivering a youth sector engagement strategy.

This role will also include some engagement with international bodies such as the UN, Commonwealth and EU, as well as the four nations across the UK.
- Coordinating key Government engagement with senior stakeholders within youth sector
- Engaging across other government departments on youth policy and supporting the new cross-government Youth Forum
- Providing a secretariat function to the forum, working closely with ministers
- Leading on youth-focused international engagements and the Devolved Administrations
- Keeping up to date on developments in the youth sector and provide updates to the wider youth team
- Drafting briefings, answers to parliamentary questions, correspondence and other parliamentary business
- The opportunity to develop grant management skills across a range of youth funding.

**2) Policy Advisor - Youth Workforce and Policy**

This is a high-profile policy area in which the successful postholder will help shape policy across the youth work sector, focussing particularly on supporting the employment market, workforce, qualifications and safeguarding. The sector is vital in providing support to young people across England, helping them to develop and reach their full potential.

The post will work closely with the National Youth Agency as well as other stakeholders in the sector. The post holder will also be responsible for assisting the management of over £2 million of spend per year.
- Policy sponsorship of the department’s relationship with the National Youth Agency
- Supporting the development of grants and programme management of funds to support young people in England
- Researching and developing policy proposals to support the youth workforce
- Keeping up to date on developments in the youth sector and provide updates to the wider youth team
- Drafting briefings, answers to parliamentary questions, correspondence and other parliamentary business
- The opportunity to develop grant management skills across a range of youth funding.

**Person specification**:
**Essential Requirements**:

- Effective stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external partners
- Great written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to deliver complex and/or difficult messages to a variety of audiences
- Confidence working at pace as part of a team, with strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines to deliver results at speed

Desirable Skills:

- Experience of working in or with the youth sector
- Experience of strategy and policy development, particularly as it relates to youth policy
- An interest in youth policy, particularly as it relates to the civil society and youth sectors
- For the Stakeholders and Internat
