We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Curriculum Leader for Science to join our Science team at St Michael’s Church of England High School. This is a permanent, full time role starting Easter 2023.

This an exciting opportunity for a strong classroom teacher with a proven track record for academic success and curriculum innovation. You will take responsibility for Key Stage 3 Science, and lead on aspects of curriculum design, teaching and assessment.
- Be responsible for designing and implementing appropriate Key Stage 3 Curriculum Plans including long term and medium term plans and reviewing/updating these regularly.
- Ensure that the KS3 Science curriculum is implemented successfully with the development of high quality resources.
- Develop and implement strategies to raise achievement at all levels.
- Along with the Curriculum Leader for Science, lead, inspire and motivate the Science team to achieve aspirational outcomes.
- Be a highly visible presence around the school and role model high standards of professional behaviour and challenge poor performance.
- Implement school strategies across the faculty to ensure high standards of behaviour and a conducive climate for learning.
- Support the Curriculum Leader for Science to ensure that teachers within the Science department consistently prepare and teach lessons that inspire and challenge all students to make good progress.
- Ensure consistently high standards of student work across the department.
- With the Curriculum Leader for Science, ensure that the Science department regularly reviews its practice and keeps abreast of new developments within education.
- Support in the development and implementation of effective methods of assessment at KS3 that are used within the Science department to track and record students’ progress in line with school policy.
- Use data from assessments and examinations accurately and effectively to inform future teaching and intervention, as required.
- Develop and implement strategies to provide KS3 students with effective feedback that enables them to understand what they need to do to make further progress.
