Would you like to join a team working with Londoners to make our city more resilient? The GLA City Resilience Team is supporting Londoners to tackle the growing challenges we collectively face, from climate change to the cost-of-living crisis.

As a key member of our team over the next year, you will play a vital role in supporting the Mayor to create a more resilient London. Your focus will be on cross-cutting programmes to build resilience, particularly working with London’s diverse communities. You’ll be able to build partnerships, manage programmes, and find new ways to support Londoners.

In this role you will be reporting to the Principal Community Resilience Officer, and you will:

- Work closely with the City Resilience team based at London Fire Brigade HQ.
- Work with the London Communities Emergencies Partnership to connect with community partners.
- Work with wider resilience partners, including the London Resilience Group, emergency services and other GLA teams.

You will bring an understanding of the risks and challenges London is facing, and a proven track record of working on projects and programmes. We’re looking for someone who can work well with community partners, who can communicate effectively and inspire action. Your enthusiasm, organisational skills and motivation will be invaluable as you contribute to managing resilience programmes and projects.

**Principal accountabilities**:

- Support delivery of workshops and training for community networks and organisations in collaboration with the London Communities Emergencies Partnership and key sector partners.
- Support the Principal Community Resilience Officer on delivery of the Community Resilience Fund, including work on showcase events.
- Work with the GLA Resilience Team and London Resilience Group to improve risk and resilience communications with communities and public, using information from the London Risk Register and other sources.
- Oversee a monthly Community Resilience newsletter: building up a strong mailing list and directly communicating with community groups.
- Support development of a programme and map of resilient local spaces, building on collaboration with the GLA Culture Team and the Cool Spaces project. Developing a good practice guide for resilient spaces.
- Assist in management of projects, including procuring and managing consultants and contractors.
- Help build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders within and outside the GLA to assist in delivery of resilience initiatives and ensure that opportunities for collaboration and integration are realised.
- Contribute to the provision of advice, written and oral, to the Mayor and his staff, senior managers, Assembly Members, and Functional Bodies, GLA staff, government departments, and other organisations on resilience matters.
- Prepare responses to questions and correspondence to the Mayor and from Assembly Members, Government departments and other organisations.
- Build and maintain an awareness of legislative, technical, and policy changes in the resilience field.
- Help to gather and review relevant data to ensure that policy, projects, and programmes are based on solid evidence and can be evaluated.
- Carry out all roles allocated to the job in accordance with the GLA’s policies and Code of Ethics and Standards.

**Technical requirements/experience/qualifications**:

- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of partners to secure project outcomes.
- Experience of urban resilience policy work and an understanding of the resilience challenges London faces.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret resilience issues in relation to cities.
- Ability to use a range of office and statistical software including word processing and spreadsheet packages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
