Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) is looking for a Consultant in Acute Care Psychiatry to be based at the Hergest Unit, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

This is a replacement post covering the male inpatient ward (Cynan Ward) at the Hergest Psychiatric Unit and will provide a substantive consultant led acute care service for Gwynedd and Anglesey.

You are required to be on the Specialist Register, have CCT or recognised equivalent, or be within 6 months of obtaining it at the time of interview.

The post holder will have direct clinical responsibility (RC) for all male inpatients (except functional OPMH patients) during the course of their admission on the 17-bedded Cynan Ward, Hergest Unit.

Clinical management for all male inpatients including covering the Mental Health Act related roles as Responsible Clinician for the duration of their inpatient stay.

Management of complex cases in collaboration with HTT and the community CMHTs.

Clinical leadership within Acute Care setting.

Mental Health Act 1983 assessments when required.

Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 implementation in acute care setting.

Consultants are expected to take part in Clinical Governance activities and participate in the Health Board’s appraisal process as well as provide Specialist Training for trainees on the North Wales rotation of the Welsh Deanery Training Program for Psychiatry.
