YCC is entering an exciting new phase of service provision as we are currently co-creating a new service for young adults aged 18 - 26 living in Kirklees. This role is an opportunity to develop the new service to empower young adults to learn new skills and develop their confidence to reduce loneliness and social isolation, and to develop and co-produce innovative solutions for young adults across the Kirklees area to provide social connection and address identified issues.

**Vacancy**: Young Adults Wellbeing Worker within Community Connections

**Hours of Work**:25 hours - weekdays, working pattern can be discussed

**Salary**:£12.10 per hour (£24,330.40 pro rata, £15,730.00 actual per annum)

**Contracted post**: Fixed term contract until 30th June 2025

**Base**:Brian Jackson House, Huddersfield however this role will involve significant work within the community and travel within the Kirklees area.

- **Purpose of the role - why the role exists and overall responsibility**_
- To support the Service Manager with the development and implementation of YCC’s Young Adults Service to improve the wellbeing of young adults and to ensure target communities needs are met
- To aim to reduce young adults loneliness and social isolation through the new service
- To plan activities and develop a young adults focus group and steering group
- To ensure young adults feel empowered in the new service and to continually adapt to the changes and needs of the group
- To work collaboratively with the young adults to co-produce the direction of the new service

- To support the development of the young adults service
- To support young adults to engage in the service
- To develop the volunteer friend service for young adults
- To be responsible for the scheduling of activities and planning of groups/events
- To respond to the needs of young adults to create a collaborative, engaging service environment
- Adhere to stated polices and procedures relating to health and safety
- Maintain and pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role i.e. knowledge around empowering young adults and working collaboratively to deliver a service.
- **Knowledge, training, and experience required**:_
- A relevant professional qualification or experience in: youth work, teaching, counselling, or another appropriate field
- GCSE/Level 2 English and Maths or evidence of a good standard of numeracy and literacy
- Experience of using computer packages including word processing, databases and maintaining monitoring systems
- Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of partners would be desirable
- Experience and knowledge around Safeguarding practices relating to Young Adults
- Prior experience in working with clients with challenging behaviour, or clients that are seeking access to support services or requiring information and guidance

- Effective communicator, who is able to engage and respond to the needs of a wide range of people e.g. colleagues, clients or members of the public, or professional associates. Has the ability to employ good listening skills, and is tactful and considering of the needs of other when communicating.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 19 months

**Salary**: £15,730.00 per year
