**Job Overview**:
The Control Centre provides the hub for operational decision making to ensure the patients receive the most appropriate response from the service.

The Planner is responsible for all logístical forward planning and forecasting ensuring the most efficient transport is allocated to enable the patient to reach their destinations within the contracted KPIs.

The Planner is responsible for planning all journeys of vulnerable and sick adults and children to and from outpatient clinics, day care centres and routine hospital admissions on timed appointments.

To efficiently and effectively influence Patient Transport Service (PTS) resources in order to ensure that the requirements of the booked patient journey are met. To liaise with hospital staff and departments to ensure that E-zec Medical are able to maximise the utilisation of the available vehicles and staff.

Build effective relationships with crews in order to ensure the best possible patient experience.

To be familiar with and adhere to Service plans, policies, procedures, and Key Performance Indictors (KPIs). The Planner will exemplify the standards that E-zec expects from all its employees and will be experts in the various aspects of Planning and forecasting operations, setting the bar for quality and compliance.

**Key Responsibilities and Duties**:

- Planning of daily ambulance journeys transporting medically eligible patients to and from NHS healthcare facilities.
- Planning a complex operation consisting of over 50 ambulances delivering 350+ patient journeys per day.
- Dealing with requests for transport from ‘Out of Area’ healthcare professionals
- Making decisions on the best use of vehicles and crew to meet mobility mix.
- Responsible for the day-to-day planning of ambulance resources to provide a cost effective and efficient Patient Transport Service by use of Cleric to meet all contractual KPIs
- To liaise with the operations team if the service is to be compromised through lack of resources or sickness.
- To work effectively and co-operatively within a team environment and assist the controllers where necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality in relation to personal data held on patients or colleagues.
- Liaise with hospitals, patients and health care professionals regarding the accuracy of the patient information for their journeys and any required updates and input all data into Cleric.
- Liaise with the Call Handlers regarding patients’ conditions, mobility, appointments, collection / destination addresses.

**Person Specification**

**Essential**
- Experience of working in a highly regulated, complex business, with an understanding of healthcare logistics (patient transport service experience preferred). This is desirable not essential.
- Excellent Computer skills and knowledge of systems, Excel, Powerpoint etc.
- Excellent telephone manner
- Have a good geographical knowledge of the county and wider UK
- Be able to stay calm under pressure
- Ability to use own initiative
- Working effectively as a part of the team

**Desirable**
- Experience of logistics and planning NEPTS journeys
- Good knowledge and understanding of the geographical area covered
- Be familiar with computerised route planning software
- Passion for patient care and delivering a highly effective service
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with proven ability to engage at all levels within an organisation
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to multi-task and prioritise as required
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and use initiative
