**GENERAL SUMMARY**

As an Machinist you will be given the opportunity to work with highly skilled individuals and develop competencies on various machinery (lathes, horizontal or vertical milling, threadmill) working out the most efficient order to carry out machining tasks and recognising the correct tool for each stage of the process. You will also learn how to select the correct speed settings and tolerance levels for operating the machines. You will be trained on how to carry out checks to ensure your work meets the technical and quaily standards required.

During the programme you will develop the ability to work from engineering drawings and technical data to produce a variety of components used primarily in the power and energy industry. You’ll learn how to maintain equipment and develop health and safety awareness throughout the program to support the business as it drives towards a zero harm culture. The four-year programme will combine an internal training programme with NVQ & BTEC qualifications.

**Principle Duties and Responsibilities**
- Work through a 4-year internal apprenticeship training programme, which includes machining, quality inspection/assurance and assisting with factory maintenance and CES programmes.
- Attend day release college and complete all assignments and examinations to obtain relevant BTEC qualifications.
- Complete NVQ level 3 qualification in conjunction with the education provider.

**Knowledge, Education, Skills and Abilities**
- GCSE passes or equivalent in Maths, English and Science.
- A willingness to learn and to take on new / challenging responsibilities within the business.
- A commitment to completing a four-year Apprenticeship scheme

- Willingness to undertake training to improve skills and to commit to a four-year programme of study.
