We are looking for a talented individual to join the Cellular Operations (CellOps) division as part of the Gene Editing team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will be working as part of a diverse group using advanced gene editing technologies to deliver functional genomics projects in partnership with Faculty teams.

Please note: Participation in weekend/public holiday rota may be required.

**About the Role**:
The Gene Editing team uses bespoke gene editing approaches to generate novel cell lines and create high-quality genome engineering resources for our Faculty partners. The role of an ARA is a laboratory-based position, where you will:

- Independently design, perform and validate genome engineering experiments to edit HiPSC and mammalian cell lines
- Maintain accurate records through Electronic Lab Notebooks and project management tools
- Contribute to the timely analysis, review and reporting of data. Proactively troubleshoot and report any issues
- Support the day-to-day organisation of the laboratory, including inventory management, cleaning rota's and supporting 5S initiatives
- Contribute to writing and updating SOPs and risk assessments. Work in accordance with the H&S guidelines
- Promote a culture of continuous process improvement, open communication, creativity and inclusion

**About You**:
To excel in this role, will need the following skills and experience:

- A proactive, self-organising individual, enthusiastic about the delivery of biological resources to support genomic research.
- Experienced in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology, capable of troubleshooting your work and disseminating results to a wide range of individuals.
- Highly motivated to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and implement new methods to ensure that we continue to support cutting-edge research.

We function in a collaborative environment, with projects spanning multiple faculty and core facility groups. Hence, you must excel at working in diverse, collaborative teams and be able to work effectively in a matrix-managed setting.

**Required Skills**:

- Degree in Biological Sciences or related discipline with 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience
- Extensive experience with culturing mammalian cell lines
- Strong theoretical understanding of CRISPR/Cas technology and cell line generation
- Practical molecular biology skills, including the use of molecular biology software and online tools
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with others in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment
- Strong communication skills, confident in disseminating information to various audiences
- Ability to maintain accurate records and report progress
- Proven ability to be able to work independently, organise and schedule individual workloads
- Experience in troubleshooting, protocol development and implementing new strategies

**About us**:
CellOps is a core research group, responsible for providing molecular and cell biology resource and expertise to the wider Institute. We do this by running an array of high-throughput projects for Faculty teams across the Sanger Institute. Our current portfolio of projects includes the generation of CRISPR-edited cells, saturation genome editing, iPSC differentiation,, organoid derivation and Spatial Genomics.

**Salary**:£31,700 to £38,000 dependent upon skills and experience
