**Hours**: Full-time 37 hours per week Monday - Friday 9-5pm

Our client, a specialist Domestic Violence charity based in Birmingham is looking to recruit a Refuge Support Worker to deliver tailored, holistic support to women and their children affected by domestic abuse and living in the Refuge, including practical and emotional support to increase their safety and meet identified needs.

Synopsis of duties:

- To provide a safe, supportive and welcoming environment to women and their children
- To recognise, respect and address the needs of service-users who face barriers when.
- seeking help to access the service, from South Asian and other BME communities.
- To take referrals for both refuge accommodations and in the community for outreach support
- To welcome new residents, explain and arrange for them to sign occupancy agreements in the refuge and support agreements.
- To ensure that any house rules are read and understood by new tenants and that all residents comply with them.
- To work with women to identify their, and their children’s, support needs and incorporate these into support plans
- To assess risk and to safety plan with women, reviewing assessments and risks regularly
- To provide practical support on a range of issues including housing, benefits, legal matters, and emotional support, medical, financial, housing, legal.
- Devise action plans with women, supporting women and children through their resettlement process where relevant.
- To refer and signpost into specialist statutory and community services where necessary to help meet needs.
- To produce and regularly review Individual Support Plans (ISP) for each service user.
- To conduct weekly key work sessions on a regular basis and keeping casework records up to date..
- To recognise women and children’s individual needs and refer and work in partnership with other agencies and advocate for survivors to ensure their needs are met to specialist agencies where necessary.
- To ensure that any issues in relation to safeguarding children or vulnerable adults are brought to the immediate attention of the Services Manager.
- To ensure that survivors are aware of their rights to legal protection for themselves and their children, and to arrange for the provision of legal advice as required and accompany women to appointments if appropriate.
- Support service users to become more integrated within their local community and that they can sustain independent community living.
- Accompany women to appointments if required

Essential Requirements:

- Extensive experience of working with women and children who have been/are victims of domestic abuse in Refuge and/or Community based programmes.
- Working with vulnerable adults and children, including those with complex needs.
- Keeping written/electronic records and evaluations.
- Fluent in at least one South Asian language
- DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service

Supporting Futures Consulting acts as both an employer and an agency.
