We have an excellent opportunity available for a Lead with extensive experience of Post 16 / Preparation for Adulthood to join our supportive SEND team at Wokingham Borough Council.

You will play an integral part in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of the statutory functions of the local authority, in respect of children and young people with SEND aged 14-25, including those with EHC Plans as well as SEN Support.

Our aim is to improve outcomes for children, young people & families in Wokingham, with a specific focus on those with special educational needs & disabilities regardless of whether they have or do not have a statutory plan in line with the SEND Code of Practice.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Play a key role in the development and delivery of the Preparation for Adulthood (PFA) Strategy to ensure young people with additional needs are visible and valued in their communities, provision is meaningful and supports good outcomes and independence.
- Build upon emerging relationships with a range of stakeholders and continue to work collaboratively and coproduce to help embed PFA in Wokingham.
- Identify opportunities for exciting and innovative coproduction opportunities with young people to shape and inform PFA and local provision.
- Oversight and where relevant the commissioning of the post 16 education, training, employment and independent living offer to young people with SEND, based on the projection of need and in collaboration with local providers.
- Leading on the Supported Internship Plan for young people with SEND to increase their access to employment.
- Oversight of the transition process between both pre and post 16 opportunities and between children’s and adults’ services.
- Oversight of relevant CPD of the SEND workforce in respect of post 16 / preparation for adulthood, and of its promotion to young people and their parents / carers.
- A passion for improving the outcomes of young people with additional needs and/or disabilities, with and without EHCPs.
- A comprehensive understanding of SEND legislation, guidance, and best practice in relation to post 16 and PFA, FE and other post 16 providers, including work related programmes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders, specifically young people, as well as their parents / carers and post-16 provisions.
- The ability to analyse data and management information with an impact and outcome focus, as well as working with commissioning to plan based on current and future needs.
