Children and Family Health Devon are recruiting a Senior Early Years Practitioner to join the Infant and Early Years’ Service to provides assessment and therapy plans for children aged 0 - 5 years.

The Infant and Early Years’ Service provide specialised care across the range of conditions, complexity and severity. You will be required to provide co-ordinated leadership and supervision to the Complex Early Years Practitioners across the CFHD Infant and Early Years Pathway ensuring effective evidence-based delivery of clinical interventions.

The key responsibilities of the Senior Early Years Practitioner are:

- To work in close liaison and partnership with the manager of the Specialist Children’s assessment services in both day to day and strategic development of the service
- To provide professional leadership, support and line management to the Early Years Practitioners to ensure they meet the needs of the children in providing a core part of the specialist assessment process and deliver therapy as required
- To ensure, as the professional lead, that the Early Years Practitoners are competent to carry out their role to a professional level
- To liaise with families and professionals to support and sustain an integrated approach to the services that the children with additional needs may have throughout the assessment process and through the child’s service plan cycle
- To support the Early Years Practitoners, where it is appropriate, to undertake a key working role for the child throughout the assessment cycle and any subsequent intervention
- To take the lead in the assessment process were the child’s needs are extremely complex and/or where there is a safeguarding concern
- Contributes to the provision of safe and reliable service
- Contributes to the effective delivery of services

Senior Early Years Practitioner will work closely with all users of our services and their families and carers, who all play an invaluable contribution in how our users experience our services. Staff are expected to be compassionate and responsive but professional and informative and contribute to the quality of the services provided across the health economy by:

- Keeping the people who use our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills, effective risk assessments and supervision.
- Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence-based policies and procedures
- Ensuring the people using our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process.
- All staff are committed to providing safe, effective services and providing patients/clients and families with a positive experience.
- Using their clinical judgement to adapt and amend assessments / treatment plans to keep the people using our services as safe as possible
- Assure quality of assessments through supervision of the Nursery Nurses and undertaking observations of practice, ensuring positive feedback is given and support to make improvements as required
- Developing effective relationships with children and young people where sensitive information is communicated
- Safeguarding infants and young children by recognising and responding when a child might be at risk from abuse but also recognising their own limits and asking for help and escalate concerns when necessary
- Escalating safety concerns and by doing so acting as effective advocates for those who use our services
- Being open and transparent about their own practice
