We have a unique opportunity available for an experienced and motivated person to join Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) as the Clinical Governance Lead.

There are around 15,000 children and young people across Devon, CFHD receives around 8000 referrals per year. We employ approximately 450 staff across a range of disciplines and professional backgrounds.

The Clinical Governance Lead will play a key role in ensuring that the quality functions are managed effectively and efficiently in CFHD working closely with the professional and clinical leadership team supported by senior operational managers and leaders. The role will support the continued development of a collaborative and supportive quality and safety culture across teams in a way that ensures first-class clinical governance support is provided to all CFHD colleagues.

The pandemic has undeniably been a challenging period for everyone in health care. CFHD staff, focused as they are on delivering exceptional care and treatment for our service users have been adaptable, professional and compassionate in their work; a key responsibility for the Clinical Governance Lead Manager is to ensure that this approach is maintained whilst ensuring that the children, young people and families of Devon receive high quality care.

Reporting to and supporting the Associate Clinical Director, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient operational delivery of the functions as outlined in the attached job description. As we are an Alliance of NHS organisations, the role will work internally with other members of the leadership team across the employing organisations, Torbay and South Devon Healthcare Trust and Devon Partnership NHS trust, the CCG and other stakeholders & partners.

We are looking for an experienced person with a strong track record of driving Clinical Governance activity, preferably in a health-care setting, but also experience of managing change and working across complex organisations.

You will have a comprehensive range of Clinical Governance and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a large workload. You will have a strategic and organisational perspective on the patient safety agenda and be able to successfully work across multiple settings and levels.

You will be an expert communicator who can manage difficult conversations and skilfully negotiate barriers to support the delivery of robust Clinical Governance structures, systems and processes.

You’ll also be a confident self-starter, able to quickly identify and progress our Governance priorities and also help us achieve local and national Clinical Governance objectives

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of six NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon. CFHD provides integrated care & treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health i.e. Children in Care, Therapies, including OT, Physiotherapy, SALT, learning disability and autism, community & other nursing and mental health services which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure to deliver locality-placed based, integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework, in response to wide-ranging consultation with our service users and communities.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training. We actively engage service users and their families in co-design which is facilitated by a dedicated young person lead role who also works closely with Young Devon who provide additional input through the Devon young people’s champions group.
