The Nuffield Department of Women's & Reproductive Health (NDWRH) have an exciting opportunity for a Human Tissue Authority (HTA) and Tissue Collection Officer, who would be responsible for the management of tissue collections within the department.
A key part of the role will be working closely with Principal Investigators (PIs) in the department to ensure all their staff and students who are working with human tissue/samples comply with the Human Tissue Act. In addition, the post holder is responsible for providing and ensuring all staff, students and visitors working with the HTA have received appropriate training and have access to all the relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) via the online iPassport system.
Within the department, you will proactively monitor changes to the regulatory framework and update the NDWRH working practices accordingly. You will be required to support the Lab Manager by implementing and monitoring the University of Oxford Safety Policy within NDWRH as well as ensuring efficient working of the T-Scan Freezer monitoring system and arranging the transportation of biological material aligned with health & safety and transportation requirements.
You will have experience of working in a laboratory environment and familiarity with good laboratory techniques, practices and safety requirements. You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborate with colleagues on a range of projects and maintain confidentiality, have good written and oral communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of internal/external contacts on a regular basis and have knowledge of the Human Authority Act regulations. You will be well organised and have the ability to organise samples and record data accurately in a clear and ordered fashion. Experience with using computer systems including word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases such as Sapphire, iPassport is essential for this role.
The post is offered on a part-time (0.5 FTE) basis and is a permanent contract.
