**About the role**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Research Group led by Professor Ian Tomlinson. You will identify and characterise predisposition genes and risk mechanisms. Work will involve tissue, computational, cell and animal analyses, together with ‘omic studies of cancer patients.

You will be involved in the study of human tumours, cell models, mouse models and large-scale data from cancer genome, transcriptome and methylome analysis. The research ranges across cancer types, with a primary focus on colorectal and endometrial cancer.

You will play a central role in the team, managing your own academic research and administrative activities, and co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. This involves undertaking work as required in human cancers and model systems, to include molecular methods, genomics and transcriptomics, and metabolomics.

The post is offered on a full-time basis until 14th December 2023 in the first instance.

**About you**

You will be experienced in the computational and experimental analysis of large-scale multiomic data from cancer patients and their tumours as well as have demonstrable experience in in the assessment, preparation and molecular analysis of samples from cancer patients and cancers.

You will have several years’ experience of experimental methods of molecular genetics, expertise in the analysis of genomic, transcriptomic and methylomic data, and a track record in studying animal models of intestinal cancer predisposition, including breeding plans, tissue preparation, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridisation. You will have the ability to work supportively in a laboratory environment, and to supervise and educate junior co-workers. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, including proven ability to write at a suitable standard for the preparation of written reports, publications and presentation of work at generalist and specialist levels. A demonstrable publication record of primary scientific papers in cancer genetics, evolution or similar would be advantageous.
