Maintenance Assistant

To efficiently maintain and provide a reliable engineering, building and grounds services at Worthing Hospital and other Trust sites.

Undertaking new work as may be required with self-motivation to achieve a satisfactory result.

To undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and minor improvement works, that do not justify the attention of a fully qualified craftsperson, within the limits of the post holders training and /or experience.

Assist higher grade staff in new work, repairs and maintenance.

Undertake and record meter readings of utility services and water sampling at regular intervals if required.

Routine cleaning of light fittings and other plant/equipment as directed.

Replacement of lamps and filters as directed.

Undertake support worker duties when required to ensure essential continuity of services in line with individuals’ skills, abilities and competence

- Grounds maintenance including snow clearing and gritting
- Temperature checks
- Painting support
- Two-man working support
- Radiator / Fan cleaning
- Basic light tube / bulb replacement
- Support on fire alarm and emergency light testing
- Meter reading
- Drain and gutter clearing
- PAT testing
- Ladder / Step checks
- Access arrangements
- Labouring
- Basic plant maintenance (e.g. softener salts)
- Furniture moving
- Contractor support

Carry out minor installations Shelving, worktops etc. (within remit)

General maintenance duties and basic repairs.
