This role is to support the OT staff with the administrative processes within the Elective Orthopeadic Team.

You will be based within a team of 10 OT staff and 9 Physiotherapy staff at Leicester General Hospital.

Ideally the hours will be worked over 5 days a week, but we will also consider a 4 day week.

You must have equivalent of Grade C or above at GCSE in English and Maths. Clerical experience and the ability to use computers is essential in this post.

Communication
- To liaise with the Occupational Therapist and other members of the Therapy team to ensure the smooth running of the admin processes.
- To undertake telephone duties including transferring calls, relaying messages, taking action on relevant calls and liaising with other professionals and departments both within and outside UHL NHS Trust.
- To use the electronic systems (TIARA, ORMIS, HISS) to register patients and enter statistics ensuring patients details are accurate and up to date.
- To review and collate up to date theatre lists for the clinical staff.
- To distribute referrals received to the relevant staff or other departments and keep an accurate record of all such referrals.
- To complete general admin duties required for the role eg, photocopying, filing, ordering medical notes.
- To complete monthly TIARA breaches corrections
- To develop, maintain and promote effective professional working relationships with other disciplines and members of the Therapy team.
- To liaise with other disciplines concerned with the care and treatment of patients as directed by the member of the Therapy team who has relevant delegation responsibilities.
- To participate in and actively contribute to departmental meetings including staff meetings.
- To maintain high standards of verbal and written communication.
- To maintain a professional level of record keeping in accordance with UHL Documentation Policies and professional guidelines.

Responsibilities - Patient/Client Care
- Monitoring equipment and stock levels, e.g. ADL equipment, splint materials.
- To manage the onsite ADL store, ensuring stock is up to date and liaise with the supplier as needed to ensure smooth running.
- To obtain information from computer systems about a patients health status and needs.
- To provide relevant information to patients/clients and carers.
- To manage and organise own time and activities in consultation with the relevant team member.
- To assist with the ordering of equipment supplied to patients as delegated by the member of the Therapy team who has delegation responsibilities for this task.
- To report back to the supervising clinician any relevant information regarding the patient and their circumstances.
- To assist with the organisation of home assessments as directed by the relevant team member.
- To undertake, where required, pre-planned delegated tasks within a patient’s place of residence/discharge destination e.g. delivery of ADL equipment, measuring heights of furniture, with or without a member of Therapy staff present, as per the UHL Lone Working Policy.

Responsibilities - Service
- To support the Therapy Service in promoting the role and value of Occupational Therapy to other healthcare professionals and the public.
- To participate in the induction of new Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff.
- To participate in the collection, recording and inputting of statistical information e.g. TIARA.
- To undertake appropriate training and development to maintain a high quality of service including team development/in-service training.
