**Job Purpose**
The Economic Development Directorate are responsible for maximising the economic development opportunities for the University and its strategic partners, continuing to develop our role as a Civic anchor institution and leading on the development of our Glasgow Riverside Innovation District (GRID) programme.
This role will provide support across the Directorate, helping to carry out research, writing reports and briefings, arranging events and contributing to the development and implementation of the GRID Civic Fund. The role holder will also gain experience of working with external partners and helping support shared areas of development with those partners (e.g. Glasgow City Region). The role holder will work across the Economic Development Directorate, and also work with colleagues across Government Relations, Planning Insight and Analytics, Research and Innovation, Estates, External Relations to support the University Economic Development Board working groups, and to support the gathering of information for use across all partners.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Under the direction of the GRID Programme Manager, research and write reports and briefings across a range of areas relevant to the Economic Development Directorate (e.g. UK Government Investment Zones), and present these to Directorate colleagues.
2. Support the organisation of events and meetings for the Directorate, attending and minuting as practicable.
3. Support the development and implementation of the GRID Civic Fund, alongside the GRID Programme Manager and Deputy Director of Economic Development.
4. Support the GRID Programme Manager in the organisation of the GRID working groups and attend as appropriate.
5. Provide support in the preparation of content for the new GRID website, and support Communications colleagues in the promotion of our activity.
6. Carry out comparator analysis of Innovation Districts and place-based programmes to help further develop the GRID programme.
7. Work with colleagues across Economic Development Directorate, and also work with colleagues across Government Relations, Planning Insight and Analytics, Research and Innovation, Estates and External Relations.
8. Work with Government Relations colleagues to help organise events and provide briefing and research materials.
9. Support the GRID Programme Manager in engagement with external partners to support the development of city region priorities, e.g. Innovation Action Plan (e.g. researching other City Region examples) and widen understanding of the economic analysis being carried out to support this.

A1 Good knowledge and understanding of Scottish politics and public affairs.
A2 Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 5 or 6 (National 5 or 6, Scottish Qualification level 2 or 3) or equivalent.

**Skills**

**Essential**:
C2 Excellent information gathering skills.
C3 Good IT skills, including experience of using Microsoft Office; in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint & ability to use databases.
C4 Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your time effectively.
C5 Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
C6 Ability to use own initiative, work independently and contribute new ideas.

**Desirable**:

D1 A moderate level of experience using and manipulating data.

**Essential**:

E1 Some relevant experience of delivering a range of administrative and /or customer services in support of existing systems or processes to an agreed standard or specification to maximise service quality or the ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post.

**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 4, £22,681 - £25,138 per annum pro rata.
This post is part time (16 hours per week) and fixed term for up to 6 months from start date.
