Statkraft has been successful in winning contracts at seven sites in Stability Pathfinders comprising of both synchronous compensators and grid forming battery technology and are constantly on the lookout to introduce new technologies to our sites. Statkraft currently operate two projects at Keith and Lister Drive with synchronous compensators under Pathfinder Phase 1.

As Principal Designer in the Grid Services team, you will play a key role in the design and development of Statkraft’s Greener Grid Parks, and build on experience gained from projects in construction and operation.

Through your responsibilities on projects, you will play a critical role in helping to decarbonize the GB electricity system, increasing the use of renewable energy and displacing fossil fuels to deliver Net Zero.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be responsible for the physical layout and design of Greener Grid Park projects taking into account:

- Electrical plant layouts, clearances and safety during construction, maintenance, and operation
- Access for and methods for construction, maintenance, and operation
- Delivery to site of major plant items during construction, maintenance, and operation
- Site topography, drainage, fencing, internal access, expansion options
- Planning/permitting implications including visibility and noise.
- Fire hazard report and design mitigation
- Health and Safety (including responsibility for development of the H&S file) in accordance with CDM Principal Designer responsibilities
- Develop cost estimates of projects:

- Building on costing data from previous projects in development and construction phase.
- Reviewing costs for project construction.
- Evolving and optimising project designs for lowest cost
- Develop specifications for tender
- Editing updating and writing specifications for employer’s requirements for Balance of Plant contracts
- Contribute to specifications for other procurements e.g. BESS, Synchronous Compensators, Transformers
- Develop and build relationships with supply chain to inform design and costing
- The role will manage a small team in the UK.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers in the team and more widely in Statkraft.
- The role involves sharing information and supporting other in similar projects across Statkraft.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience with a team designing / delivering multi-million pound project(s)
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations
- Masters / university degree in engineering or sciences or related
- Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD)
- Demonstrate a keen interest and affinity in working with renewables and their integration to the grid
- Be proactive and solution orientated with strong attention to detail and solution-orientated approach to problem solving
- Show strong communication, relationship building (including multi-team player) and people skills
- Be well organised and target oriented; strong ability to prioritize
- Have ability to concisely frame issues by providing context, analysis, recommendations, and risk/benefit, both in written and verbal format to project teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Develop a detailed understanding of the technologies and projects
