**To provide support for 6 hours per week. To work with a young male adult to enable him to access community and leisure activities and to enable is independence.
We are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to provide support for a 19 year old young man. The purpose of your role will be to enable his independence, support to have time away from his family taking part in activities he enjoys. You will mostly support out in the community.
- He is friendly young man, can be quiet until he gets to know you and enjoys being around people. He is looking for someone who has a good sense of humour, can have a laugh and take a joke, ideally you should be someone who is not easily offended
- This young man has a diagnosis of ADHD and autism, learning difficulties and is also visually impaired. It is anticipated that he may require the support of a guide dog in the future and has already starting receiving advice and support around this.
It will be an advantage however not essential if you have experience of supporting people with visual impairments.
- You will support with going to the shops, meeting friends, taking part in various activities such as going to the gym and out for food. Each day will be different depending on what he wants to do on that day so you should be prepared to be flexible.
- We would also like our PA to be able to suggest things to do out in the community so you should be willing to be proactive in finding various activities to take part in.
- We would prefer you to be a car driver with your own transport however this isn’t essential as public transport can be used. Expenses will be met by your employer.
- Hours
- **6 hours per week to be worked weekdays and/or weekends. Hours will be discussed further at interview.**

**MAIN DUTIES**
- Support with enabling independence
- Assist with taking part in activities and to persue hobbies and interests
- Ensure safety when out and about

**Rate of pay**
£11.91 per hour. Holidays are 5.6 weeks per year, pro-rata

**Person Specification**
Successful applicant must:

- Ideally have experience working as a support worker with children or adults especially with visual impairments
- Have a positive understanding towards people with disabilities
- Have a genuine interest in working within social care
- Have a high degree of initiative
- Be punctual and reliable
- Be flexible
- Have a happy, positive and caring nature.
- Respect confidentiality.

**Car driver preferable and must have business insurance.**

**An Enhanced DBS Check is required, cost to be met by employer.**
