**Job Title**:Fire Safety Advisor

**Department**:Fire and Safety

**Division**:Estates & Facilities

**Hours**: 37.5 hours per week

**Responsible to**: Non-clinical risk manager

**Accountable to**:Director of Estates and Facilities

**Base**:Main base St Peter’s Hospital, with requirement to work across both St Peter’s and Ashford Hospital sites to fulfil role

**Key Responsibilities**

**Technical and Regulatory**
- Maintain standards of fire prevention and safety.
- Ensure fire precautions comply with Department of Health standards and statutory requirements.
- Provide advice on structural fire protection for new and existing buildings.
- Conduct fire risk assessments, prepare reports, and implement action plans.

**Leadership**
- Arrange and monitor periodic certification of fire-related equipment.
- Advise departmental managers on fire safety matters.
- Supervise provision and maintenance of firefighting equipment and safety signage.

**Budgetary**
- Effectively manage the Fire revenue budget for prevention, detection, and fighting contracts.
- Provide expert advice on fire-related requirements in new builds and maintenance projects.

**Information and Reporting**
- Monitor and respond to enforcement notices issued by Fire Authorities.
- Respond to fire alarm activations, assess staff response, and address shortcomings.
- Assist in investigating and reporting fire-related adverse events and near misses.

**Training**
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive fire safety training program.
- Ensure compliance with Trust policies, national standards, and legislation.
- Organise and deliver annual Fire warden and fire response training.

**Service Improvement**
- Develop and update site fire plans and procedures.
- Collaborate with Emergency Planning & Resilience Officer on the Hospital Evacuation Policy.
- Review and implement fire safety and emergency-related policies.

**Equipment**
- Ensure maintenance and availability of fire-fighting equipment.
- Monitor fire contractors to ensure correct equipment maintenance and testing.

**Communications and Engagement**
- Provide technical information tailored to various audiences.
- Build and maintain constructive relationships with professionals and managers.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the local Fire and Rescue Service.

**General Responsibilities**
- Occasionally work out of hours for selected fire drills and training.
- Support the department and organization by undertaking other duties within the broad scope of the role.

**Salary**: Up to £44,000.00 per year
