An exciting opportunity exists for an Orthotist, to join the Orthotics department at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Trust. This is a varied clinical role with inpatient and outpatient clinics across 3 clinical areas set within Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge Hospital.

Multi-disciplinary teamwork is thoroughly encouraged including: orthopaedic foot and ankle, diabetic foot, neurology, paediatric and traumatic spinal injury. The team at WUTH work closely with their medical and AHP colleagues.

The Orthotists work with the aim of providing the orthosis that is correct for the patient and are encouraged to utilise the most up to date orthotic technology. All clinicians are encouraged to be actively involved in their own development and the improvement of the department.

This is a friendly, dynamic orthotic team and a great opportunity to gain experience working in a busy acute hospital setting.

Applicants must be HCPC registered and preferably members of BAPO.

Provide a high standard of orthotic therapy to service users at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals. The role covers all specialties and serve both inpatients and outpatients.

Manage own caseload with the support of the senior team.

Actively play a role within development of the service, undertaking projects, audits and CPD.

Key Responsibilities
- Be able to successfully assess for and prescribe orthoses in line with HCPC standards, utilizing BAPO guidelines.
- Utilise evidenced based practice and rationale decision making in prescription choice.
- Be able to communicate with patients, their family members, multidisciplinary team (MDT), suppliers and manufacturers.
- To maintain a current knowledge of relevant clinical pathologies to be able to devise the most appropriate prescriptions.
- Responsible for keeping up to date with relevant clinical research, best practice and professional guidelines.
- Responsible for own continued professional development with mentorship and self-directed learning.
- Assist with promotion of the profession but contributing to the training of students and other professionals as required.
- Be legally and professionally responsible for all aspects of your own work, including the management of patients in your care as an autonomous practitioner.
