**RECEPTION**: To provide a professional service to patients, and inform them of general information about the practice. To be calm, friendly and polite at all times. To be aware of all policies relating to diversity and to represent the practice in a positive and professional manner. To make, change and alter appointments, working within the boundaries of the appointments protocols.

To signpost requests for appointments to the appropriate service after appropriate discussion with the patient. To be familiar with the Practice Boundary and to register patients appropriately. To offer new patients information about the practice and its services both verbally and using printed materials and to be familiar with their content. To prepare repeat prescriptions working within the practice protocols.

To be familiar with the principles of confidentiality, Caldicott, Governance and data protection and always be mindful of these during face to face and telephone encounters with patients/doctors and other staff. To scan correspondence into patients medical records To have a clear telephone manner remaining calm and helpful at all times. To always offer patients CHOICE and a solution wherever that is possible To be able to manage conflicting priorities Providing and maintaining professional and effective dialogue Possess and aptitude for dealing with potentially difficult of demanding situations Work as part of a team but use initiative Work under pressure IT: RECEPTION: To be familiar with the clinical computer system in order to be able to carry out the duties outlined above.To always take care when using your smartcard that you are appropriately logged out of your machine when you are not using it. To be responsible for the safekeeping of your smartcard and to report immediately any loss or damage.

From time to time, to collect data from patients at reception which are to be entered on to their Electronic Health Record. To work as part of the reception team and to be considerate to the needs and wants of the team in order to provide and efficient service to the practice and to patients. To undertake duties as may be determined from time to time commensurate with the range of activities described above. Confidentiality: In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.

They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will respect their privacy and act appropriately
