**Job Description: Assistant Psychologist**

**Job Summary**:
To assist in the preparation, development and delivery of clinical assessments, interventions, administration, and audit under clinical supervision.

**Pay**:
£15.00 per hour (gross)

37.5 hours per week

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Clinical duties and Service administration**

1. To undertake specific duties as required - for example:
a) maintaining and reviewing the archiving of clinical and research resources

b) printing out indexed bundles of clinical records

c) reading and summarising medical records in preparation for Neuropsychology assessments

d) typing up clinical notes from medical records in preparation for Neuropsychology assessments

e) assisting with filing of clinical records, including setting up of new clinical files in preparation for assessments

f) to assist with waiting list management including chasing of bundles of records, downloading these to Sharepoint, scheduling of appointments, including booking rooms and confirming arrangements with patients / the instructing Solicitor

g) assisting with scoring of psychometric assessments and entering the data into the appropriate records

h) taking minutes of clinical / administrative meetings as required.

2. To perform other duties of a similar kind appropriate to the grade, which may be required from time to time by the Clinical Neuropsychologist.

**Research duties**

1. To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist in evidence-based practice in individual work and work with other team members.

2. As part of clinical work agreed by a Clinical Neuropsychologist to observe and/or undertake neuropsychological assessments. These assessments could include formal / service devised self-report measures, rating scales and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care. It may also involve carrying out, analysing and reporting on structured observations as directed by the clinical supervisor. The work will also involve scoring of neuropsychological instruments and measures.

3. To write reports as and when required under the supervision of the Clinical Neuropsychologist.

Other
- To receive regular clinical and managerial supervision. To reflect on this supervision and to implement any advice given.
- The post-holder will undertake appropriate Continual Professional Development, and will, as a matter of course, keep themselves updated on developments relevant to work undertaken.
- The post-holder will adhere to appropriate professional standards, as set out in the British Psychological Society’s Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles and Guidelines.
- To attend all relevant meetings and take minutes or action notes of meetings when requested.
- To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping and report writing in accordance with professional codes of practice of the BPS and UHB policies and procedures.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as required by the service, compatible with the remit of the post.
- To prepare test materials and visual aids as required.

**GENERAL**
- **Job Limitations**:At no time should the post holder work outside their defined level of competence. If the post holder has concerns regarding this, they should immediately discuss them with their manager. All staff have a responsibility to inform those supervising their duties if they are not competent to perform a duty.
