**Reports to**:Charity Shop Manager

**Responsible for**: Assisting the Charity Shop Manager to manage the Charity Shop Volunteers (including retail, drivers and donation station volunteers)

**Place of Work**: Jerry Green Dog Rescue Charity Shop, 14-16 Market Street, Gainsborough, DN21 2BE

**Salary**: National minimum wage

**Hours of Work**: 24 hours per week to include every other Saturday

**Start date**:We are looking for someone to start as soon as possible

**Main Purpose of the Job**:
To effectively support the retail management of Jerry Green Dog Rescue (JGDR) and the efficient running of our retail shop. To be responsible for all activities at the Shop, such as maintaining stock levels, manage the donation station sorting and pricing, stock movement and visual merchandising and ensuring collection of donated goods in a timely fashion. To ensure that all appropriate standards of security and health and safety are met.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**

**Staffing**
- To ensure that the shop is adequately stocked at all times and establish appropriate rotas for staff, clients and volunteers
- To lead, motivate and train volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the shop and implement new ideas with a positive attitude.
- To maintain a weekly rota and to delegate shop tasks to the volunteers according to their strengths.

**Shop Premises**
- To ensure that the shop premises are clean and tidy at all times and that goods are displayed in an attractive and presentable manner
- To attend mandatory updates on fire and safety, moving and handling etc.
- To be aware of the responsibilities placed on employees under the Health and Safety at Work Act, to maintain a safe environment for employees and visitors.
- To bring all concerns to the attention of the Management
- To act as key holder; to open and close the shop for agreed trading hours and ensure that the premises are secure on leaving. To respond to emergency call outs if and when necessary

**Trading hours**
- Opening and closing the shops and ensuring trading hours are adhered to.
- To allocate your time to ensure that maximum trading time and cover is achieved and be flexible with your time to cover hours required to maximise trading hours.

**Sales & Profits**
- To recognise and implement additional opportunities for income generation and explore expenditure to support reductions in shop costs.
- Ensure that a standard of excellence is maintained at all times both in terms of customer service and supporter care

**Stock Management & Pricing**
- Support effective stock management systems to realise the maximum profit possible from donated goods.
- Process the donation station sorting and pricing, stock movement.
- Price stock according to JGDR pricing structure
- To be aware that certain donated goods may be of considerable value and to secure these goods until they have been professionally valued.
- To hold sales, customer deals and manage returns professionally
- To take a degree responsibility for stock control, including disposal of unsold donations at the best possible return

**Administration and Financial Procedures**
- To maintain an accurate, and scrupulously honest, account of the shops financial position.
- To occasionally, as and when required, reconcile the takings
- To bank all cash, every other day, where possible and to ensure strict security measures are implemented for unbanked cash at weekends and holiday periods
- To encourage and sign-up donors to our Gift Aid scheme and ensure the team does the same.
- To ensure that all the Jerry Green Dog Rescue administrative and financial procedures are followed including, but not limited to, banking, cash register reconciliation, weekly returns, volunteer records and paperwork are submitted to Central Office accurately and in appropriate timescales.
- To make regular reports to the line manager on the performance of the shop and its staff
- To manage direct reports and to oversee and support the local team, liaising with them concerning stock levels, presentation of the sale areas, targets, volunteer’s rotas, health and safety etc.

**Social Media Marketing and Online Sales**
- Run social media campaigns to assist in-house and online sales

**Regulations**
- To comply with all current legislation and JGDR policies. This includes the health and safety policy and retail law.

**Promotion of JGDR**
- Under the leadership of JGDR, to use the shop as a vehicle to promote the core principles to volunteers and customers, using the communication materials provided and one’s own empathy for the cause.

To ensure that all queries about the JGDR services are signposted to Central Office and that information held at the shop is up to date
