Eating Disorder Psychotherapist

**Main duties and responsibilities**:
- Work in conjunction with the MDT at Orri Hallam and Wimpole Street to provide a
serviceforupto40-daypatientsandupto60outpatients. These numbers could
change as Orri develops.
- Work across the on-line and in person day care settings providing client
assessment, client sessions, running groups, attending clinical meetings and
providing client follow up.
- Contribute to risk assessment and risk management undertaken by the Multidisciplinary Team using MEED risk management procedures.
- Devise and deliver set group therapy sessions to groups of up to 8 client’s and
maintain an individual case load of clients seen 1 x per week
- The post holder will be expected to practice within a legal & ethical framework as
defined by:
- National mental health related legislation - Mental health Act & Mental
capacity Act
- Orri policy, guidelines and protocols
- The Nice Guidelines
- BACP/UKCP/NCS/HACP and/or other relevant registration bodies

- The management of your own workload. Identifying and responding to the
therapeutic needs of service users under your care
- Providing case management to a case load of identified clients supporting with
treatment planning, MDT representation and liaison with relevant GP/external
team
- Provide written reports for the clients as required

- Work with the Service Managers to ensure Orri provides a safe, effective and
caring service that is responsive to people’s needs and is well-led
- Develop and maintain effective working alliances with clients and their families
- To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the formulation and
implementation of plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or
management of a client’s mental health based upon an appropriate conceptual
framework of the client’s problems in the context of family and wider system, and
employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy
- Responsibility for implementing a range of psychological interventions for
individuals and groups. Have knowledge of a range of psychological models
- Communicating in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the
assessment and formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and
to monitor progress during treatment from admission to discharge
- Form professional relationships with members of the MDT and work alongside
other professionals to deliver therapeutic interventions to the young people and
families
- Support the client and their family when transitioning to other services and work
alongside other professionals within and outside of the service
- Attend regular clinical professional supervision at Orri and, if identified seek
additional training and or support for development
- Act as a resource for referrers advising on criteria for referral to the service
- Develop and deliver training - in house/external as required. This training may be
for students, other disciplines, other professionals, trained and untrained staff
- Act as a role model, modelling professional and leadership behaviours as an
integral part of practice development

Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct standards, or Health Professions
Council Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics
- Be flexible and adaptable, well organised and able to manage time and
workload effectively in line with the needs of the service
- Have a desire to expand professional development and support organisational
change
- Participate in the team Personal Development Review processes as both
appraiser and appraisee.

The post holder will be competent in:
- Mobile phone and landline phones
- Paper base and electronic documentation audit systems
- Systems for the collection, recording and audit of service users/carers views
- Electronic medical records system
- The post holder will have sound knowledge and skills in the use of a wide range of
systems including
- Risk assessment tools and clinical/assessment rating scales
- Appraisal and personal development planning
- Fire and emergency procedures
- Infection control systems
- Health and safety policy
- information technology systems
**Desired skills and expertise**:
- Psychotherapists: Comply with the BACP or UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. Have completed an accredited psychotherapy or counselling training to MSC or equivalent level.
- Ideally a minimum of 5 years post qualification with experience of delivering individual and group therapies.
- Previous post registration experience of working with clients who have had an eating disorder.
- Maintaining a professional portfolio for CPD recording learning outcomes through participation in internal and external development opportunities.
