General expectations of all Nursery staff

- To be responsible for the care and well being of all children / persons within the nursery.
- To actively support the nursery owner and Manager with Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and Infection Control policies and procedures which includes maintaining a clean and well-presented work environment and keeping up to date with your own responsibilities under current legislation.
- To use opportunities offered for continuous professional development and attend staff meetings when required.

General

**Responsibilities**:

- To support the senior in charge of the area in which you are working and, along with the other staff, help in the day-to-day co-ordination of the nursery.
- To actively contribute to the safety and well-being of the children in your care and everyone else using the nursery premises by following all nursery policies and procedures to a high standard, which includes keeping all work areas clean and tidy in order to reduce the risk of accidents or infections.
- To positively encourage the development of all children in your care by maintaining a high level of interaction with the children and being a good role model.
- To develop good relationships with all parents and acknowledge their key role in the care and development of their children.
- To follow planned routines and activities and to assist in the planning of such activities.
- To accurately maintain all necessary written documentation, in keeping with your level of responsibility. This includes the register, accident and medication books etc. as well as children’s records.
- To ensure that all equipment is used appropriately and effectively and kept in good condition, including re-stocking day-to-day consumables and notifying senior staff when stocks are low, according to agreed procedures.
- To actively contribute to the work of the staff team by maintaining a positive, constructive and professional attitude.
- To contribute to team meetings.
- To ensure that all necessary information is passed on to the Manager or Senior in charge.
