The role of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department is to provide a comprehensive range of ante-natal, intra-partum, post-partum and gynaecological services to the local population.

**Key tasks of the post holder**:

- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of patients.
- To work flexibly to cover the needs of the Departments
- To actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.
- To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME).

**Clinical care**:

- To ensure their consultant's patients are reviewed daily
- To write a discharge summary, for those patients allocated by consultant
- To attend consultant ward rounds
- To attend and participate in departmental meetings
- To attend outpatient clinics as specified by consultant

**Educational Opportunities**:
1. Experience in the assessment and treatment of the acutely ill patient
2. To understand the importance of comprehensive geriatric assessment
3. To understand the working of the multidisciplinary team caring for the elderly and each individual’s role and input
4. Clinical governance session monthly covering audit, guidelines, incident reporting etc.
5. Tuesday lunchtime hospital continuing professional development meetings

This post will be part of the Obstetric and Gynaecology on-call rota
- Have a teaching responsibility for supervision and training of FY1 doctors.
- Keep up-to-date records to satisfy continuous professional development requirements.
- The post holder will have the opportunity to complete and write up an audit project
- Work within the clinical governance framework as agreed within the Trust.
- Ensure regular appraisal with clinical supervisor.
- Attend generic skills training programme.

You will have a duty to familiarise yourself with the relevant Policies and Procedures, i.e.
