Job description

The University of South Wales is seeking to appoint a number of Lecturers in Policing Practice.

We are currently in partnership with five Police Forces and have dedicated delivery teams based in each Force working in collaboration with police personnel. Our courses are blended in nature and consist of both online and in-person delivery, approximately a 50:50 split. Whilst we are seeking to identify talented individuals to work across our entire provision, we have a particular demand in the Wiltshire and Devon & Cornwall areas. We also consider those seeking a part time option.

The Lecturer in Policing Practice will contribute to the delivery of the Subject’s growing undergraduate and postgraduate policing related awards. The post holder will be responsible for providing effective and high-quality learning opportunities via both blended and face-to-face teaching practices, for apprentices/student officers off and on campus. The post holder will also be required to contribute to an excellent student experience for all apprentices/students and provide appropriate support and pastoral care for them. This will be a rewarding position that will give you the opportunity to use your skills and/or experience in order to guide and mentor learners on their journey to becoming fully fledged police constables.

Due to the requirement to work from police premises, forces may also require applicants to undertake additional police vetting.

If you do not possess a teaching qualification relevant to the context of Higher Education, if appointed you will be enrolled on the internal Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education scheme.
