**Housing Intervention Worker - Prison Offender Project (POP)**

**Reports To: Housing Intervention Senior / Service lead**
**Grade/ Salary: £22,500 FTE per annum**
**Location: Pontypridd Probation Delivery Unit, Broadway, Pontypridd CF37**1BA**

**Staff will also be expected to work regularly from HMP Cardiff and HMP Swansea and provide support within community settings across RCT.**

**Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week. (working hours between 8.30am and 8pm)**

**Flexible working hours**

**One evening (until 8pm) and one Saturday will be required as per**
**3 week rota.**

**Saturday delivery will require facilitation of a community ‘drop in’ and agile working / on call.**

**Contract: Permanent**

**Background and Service**

Kaleidoscope is a pioneering substance misuse, mental health and accommodation provider, offering evidence based treatment and person centred support to individuals who access its services. Staff teams work collaboratively with partner agencies including
Housing Support Grant Services Rhondda Cynon Taf, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University
Health Board, South Wales Police, The Office of South Wales Police Crime Commissioner
(SWPCC) HMPPS (Her Majesties Prison and Probation Service), PHW (Public Health Wales) and other third sector support agencies.

**POP** is funded by **Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council **to engage with People
Currently In Prison **(PCIP) **who have had experience of more than one sentencing period, and are serving a sentence less than 12 months, to deliver effective accommodation and tenancy support in preparation for release in the community.

**RCT POP - Housing Intervention Worker**

Housing Intervention Workers will work alongside homeless prevention teams and

**Probation Practitioners in the prison and community providing**:

- Housing options / housing portal navigation
- Accommodation visits
- House hold checks
- System navigation
- Knowledge and support to access private / Local Authority and Registered Housing

All the team will work within the prison to work with service users pre-release and to ensure that they are fully prepared for release. This will require close liaison with Local Authority representatives and partner agencies.

Kaleidoscope staff are expected to follow Operational Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring that the support and services provided are safe, undertaken to a high standard and informed by up-to-date, evidence-based practice.

The post holder should enjoy face-to-face contact with people who are involved in the criminal justice system. They will have excellent communication skills, be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, across agency cultures including those within statutory, private and voluntary sector partnerships. The post holder must be flexible and efficient within small locality teams, to ensure services are delivered equitably and with the service user at the heart of delivery.

The post holder will have a non-judgmental approach to people who have complex health and social care needs including a history of offending, mental health and substance misuse and be able to provide a welcoming and accessible service to existing and potential service users.

Individual supervision will be provided six weekly in line with Kaleidoscope policy. Specific training will be available for the development of service provision in line with Continued
Professional Development

The post holder will be expected to work in line with the Social Services and Well Being
(Wales Act) 2014, and the Violence against Women Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence
(Wales) Act 2015 to ensure safeguarding of individuals (adult and children) is at the heart of service delivery. A good understanding of confidentiality and information sharing legislation is required with the confidence to act professionally and seek guidance and support from line management and colleagues where appropriate.
