The Resuscitation Service are looking for a highly motivated registered Health Care Practitioner with recent clinical experience, to join our friendly and dynamic team.
We wish to recruit and develop someone who has a passion for teaching and has a keen interest in resuscitation, patient safety and quality improvement projects.
The successful applicant will be visible to support the resuscitation service, across UHB (Hospitals include: Good Hope, Heartlands, Solihull and the Queen Elizabeth) and occasionally within the community services.
There will be individual developmental opportunities as part of the development pathway for the successful applicant, including the opportunity to achieve their Immediate Life Support (ILS) provider qualification and support to progress to a Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS instructor. If successful at achieving this instructor qualification, they will be able to expand their teaching experience by assisting with the delivery of the Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS course.
**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
The successful applicant will assist the Resuscitation service with the delivery of the high quality resuscitation teaching and ensure the highest standards of care for patients who suffer deterioration and cardiac arrest. The role will also involve contributing to the data collection, recording and reporting of cardiac arrest events and equipment safety audits and education across our Organisation.
The teaching role will involve supporting and assessing clinical staff during basic adult (and paediatric) resuscitation training at trust induction and on annual updates. The sessions include teaching about the recognition and prevention of the deteriorating patient and the skills required during cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including the use of the automated external defibrillation (AED).
The successful applicant will also work alongside the Resuscitation Officers in order to ensure adherence to standards and the resuscitation policy across all sites of University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB).

**Qualifications**:
**Essential**:
- Registered Health Care Practitioner e.g Registered Nurse, Midwife, ODP, Paramedic.
**Experience**:
**Essential**:
- Previous / recent experience of working in an acute NHS care setting (e.g ED, AMU, CCU)
- Competent in Basic level Life Support (BLS) and use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
- Ability to participate with the implementation of change, assist with and improving standards.
**Desirable**:
- Involvement in audit
- Incident reporting and investigations
- Teaching resuscitation skills
- Teaching experience
**Additional Criteria**:
**Essential**:
- Demonstrate achievement of numeracy (including drug administration calculations) and literacy skills. Ability to read / write and speak, receive and understand instructions in English
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team
- Good IT knowledge & computer literacy (Word, Power Point and Excel)
- Knowledge of the use of clinical resuscitation equipment
- Understanding and have knowledge of the relevant governing bodies code of conduct.
- Work as part of a team but able to work independently when required
- Good personal time management skills
- Full driving license as this is a cross site role / Ability to fulfil travel requirements of post
- Able to manage time effectively to carry out cross site working on a regular basis.
