This is an exciting time to be working in tobacco control in Brighton & Hove.

You will play a lead role in developing and implementing the city’s comprehensive, multi-agency Tobacco Control Strategy which will reduce the prevalence and harms of smoking, address smoking related health inequalities, and contribute to the overall health and wellbeing of the community. This will include local delivery of the Government’s plan to create a smokefree generation.

The post is based within the busy and dynamic public health team at Brighton & Hove City Council where you will be a senior member of the team. You will work in collaboration with partners across Brighton & Hove, Sussex and the South East including other council departments, NHS commissioners and providers, smoking cessation providers, national government agencies, other public sector organisations and local communities.

**About the role**:
You will be primarily responsible for:

- Leading the development of our existing tobacco control plans and implement effective tobacco control and smoking cessation strategies, policies, and programmes of work.
- Leading and managing the commissioning process and contract management of smoking cessation services provided in a range of settings.
- Line management of team members within the tobacco control programme.
- Building and maintaining strong partnerships with colleagues across Sussex and the Integrated Care System to enhance the impact of tobacco control initiatives.
- Advocating for and support the development of evidence-based, best practice policies that support tobacco control and smoking cessation across organisations.
- Accountable for overseeing the delivery of smoking initiatives that are part of the local tobacco control plan
- Accountable for gathering and use of data and evidence, staying abreast of the evidence base and changing national guidelines around smoking and tobacco
- Accountable for ensuring the engagement with diverse communities to understand their needs and develop targeted interventions to reduce smoking rates.
- Leading on the design, delivery and evaluation of the local training programme for new smoking cessation advisors and other professionals.

**Additional information**:
