Band 3 Infant Feeding Support Worker - 22.5 hours per week.

The primary responsibility of the Infant Feeding Support Worker is to provide Infant feeding support to parents and their families during pregnancy and the early post-natal period, offering maximum support within the first 8 weeks after birth when breastfeeding is more likely to cease. Working within the Health Visiting service in Warwickshire, however based in Rugby.

Would you like to be part of a UNICEF Baby Friendly accredited service in Warwickshire? Are you enthusiastic, passionate, skilled and knowledgeable in infant/breast feeding support? If so, we would like to hear from you. We require someone who has completed the 2-day UNICEF breastfeeding management and who has at least 1 years’ experience supporting breastfeeding parents and their families.

The support provided can consist of telephone, virtual, home visits and face to face group/clinic. Your base will be the Orchard Centre in Rugby, however travel may be expected to other areas of Warwickshire.

Full driving licence essential.

Working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

- Adhere to the South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust Infant Feeding Policy.
- Promote breastfeeding and the risk of formula feeding, adhering to the UNICEF baby friendly initiative.
- Provide one-to-one support and group support to expectant parents, new parents, and their families, allocated to the caseload from birth to 8 weeks Using various methods of communication i.e., telephone, video consultation, clinics and in the home environment. Also providing very brief advice (VBA) on smoking cessation, in line with making every contact count (MECC)
- Provide ongoing support to help parents overcome barriers and offer appropriate advice, which may include maternal mental health concerns.
- Facilitate in the development and delivery of antenatal education to expectant parents and their families to promote the benefits of breastfeeding
- Signpost to other services/organisations locally.
- By use of social media platforms, design and share infant feeding promotional items, including infant feeding educational items to promote breastfeeding in the wider community.
- Provide a link between midwifery, peer support volunteers/groups, Health Visiting teams and Children and Family Centre staff to support good, joint working to provide a seamless and excellent quality support service.
- Ability to work unsupervised and manage own workload working within the remit of their job role, feeding back any concerns to the Infant feeding coordinator/ infant feeding specialist and health visiting service.
- Take referrals from health visitors and other health professionals
- Suggest ideas on the overall development of the service in conjunction with the Infant feeding team
- Assist in identifying local needs and areas of priority to be established through various virtual platforms including consultation with service users and local communities.
- Collect and record data on caseload and activities as required by the admin worker and General manager
- Ensure adherence to child safeguarding policies as required by the trust, including domestic violence
- Manage own time and resources effectively and in a professional manner.
- Report to manager any concerns regarding workload and ensure Microsoft diaries are kept up to date
- Participate in appraisal and learning activities and in supervision.
- Keep updated with evidence base practices and attend training as necess
