Support Medical Secretary

We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual who enjoys working in a challenging and busy environment to support the Ear, Nose and Throat Service working 30 hours a week on a permanent basis, and based at Chorley and South Ribble General Hospital.
Our Support Medical Secretary provides a professional and comprehensive secretarial and administrative service. They support a Medical Secretary, two Consultants and their clinical teams by ensuring the efficient channelling of communication between Medical staff, GPs, patients, relatives, and teams.
You will also provide administrative support to the ENT Hot Clinics where urgent A&E and ward referrals are processed.
You will be part of a team helping to improve our patients' experience and reduce our waiting lists for treatment. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and be confident in IT skills, be able to exercise initiative, demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism and be aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.
Within the Surgery Directorate, we really value our Support Medical Secretaries, they play an important role in the day to day running of our Clinical Services, making sure that patient care is at the forefront of all we do. Within the Head and Neck SBU, we provide care for Cancer, urgent and routine patients in clinics and in theatres.
This is a busy and varied role; no day is ever the same. As a Support Medical Secretary, you will undertake various administrative duties, have regular contact with patients and all members of the Clinical Team, as well as ensuring the smooth running of the Hot Clinics for emergency A&E referrals, making sure that our patients get the best possible care.

- Responding to external and internal telephone queries from staff, patients and others and referring to appropriate person.
