To provide a specialist administrative function in respect of the fast-tracking of suspected cancer referrals for all tumour groups, thereby supporting the implementation of the NHS Cancer Plan.

Ensuring all suspected cancer (Target) referrals from GP’s, Dental Practice, A&E and internal services, are processed in accordance with local policies and procedures and Department of Health directives. To create and maintain accurate records on Careflow (PAS) and Somerset Cancer Registry Database,.

Ensuring that current and new Government directives are understood and implemented, therefore adapting to change as and when necessary, under the direction of the Senior Cancer Referral Coordinator.

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit within the Cancer Referral Office. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with transferable knowledge and skills to support our Cancer Referrals Team. You should have the ability to work autonomously, be a creative thinker and have excellent communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who wishes to extend their skills and to work within the cancer and clinical support division to support the Cancer Referrals Office and patient pathways for target referrals from the G.P. and incidental findings. The post holder will also join the team’s responsibility to ensure the Trust delivers against the National Access Targets for Cancer Waiting Times.

The post holder will;
- Be responsible for processing suspected cancer (Target) referrals from GPs, A&E and internal services, in accordance with local policies and procedures and Department of Health directives.
- Create and maintain accurate records on the Somerset Cancer Registry Database, adhering to timetables for central returns.
