We are assisting our client who sustained an acquired brain injury in the line of duty and is working towards his rehabilitation goals, with his top priority to be the best daddy possible to his triplets aged 5 years next week. Although our client does not live with his children, he is supported by his support workers and a contact facilitator to be a very good hands-on daddy.

We are keen to establish a team of 3 motivated individuals (we have 1 established team member in post) to assist him with the activities of daily living. Our client has an interest in woodwork, walking, kayaking, cooking, attending the gym, fishing and most of all, spending quality time with his 3 children. He is keen to get involved with organisations of service personnel who have suffered injury in the line of duty and undertake outward bound activities.

The support worker role is to facilitate independence skills such as, shopping/menu planning/cooking/cleaning/gardening/leisure activities to include gym attendance/organising and attending any medical and hospital appointments/co-ordination with other medical professionals and therapy team/supporting with financial arrangements (although our client has deputies in place to make all financial decisions). There will be joint work with the contact facilitator to collect the children from school, support our client to attend parenting appointments, such as school assembly, sports day and parents evenings. Although it is important to note that the contact facilitator takes responsibility for the children and the support worker takes responsibility for our client.

Shifts will involve some sleep-in duties (our client is a very good sleeper) this is more to ensure that someone is available to assist in the case of an emergency. This is a full-time position, with the opportunity for additional hours to cover sick leave or annual leave. Experience of working with adults with an ABI is preferred although not essential as training and supervision will be provided.

Completion of electronic/on-line notes is required and training will be provided.

The support team will have the use of a large MPV style vehicle to facilitate the school runs. A full clean driving licence is therefore essential.

As mentioned our client sustained an acquired brain injury in the course of duty, with the correct level of support, guidance and motivation, our client has been able to achieve his ultimate rehabilitation goal of being the best daddy possible to his three beautiful children and living as independently as possible.
