**About us** The QuickStart initiative will provide paid job placements for 18-24 year olds based in the Vale of Glamorgan Council. The aim is to provide young people with essential employment skills to enhance their future employment prospects**

The role would involve working within the Enforcement Service to support all members of staff with administration duties and support.

As the Enforcement Administrator you will be part of a multi-skilled team of both Enforcement Officers and support staff, working in the fields of civil parking enforcement and criminal enforcement.

Situated within the Neighbourhood Services and Transport Directorate and in partnership with a wide number of external organisations (e.g. South Wales Police, British Transport Police, South Wales Fire & Rescue Fire Crime Unit, Natural Resources Wales, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency and Welsh Government). You will provide crucial support from helping to identify civil parking contraventions to assisting in preparing prosecution case files.

**About the role**
To provide administrative support to the Enforcement Service.
- To produce documents, letters and reports using a wide selection of Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- To maintain filing and internal systems (such as Granicus and penalty processing databases)
- To assist with the setting up of meetings & community engagement events, booking venues and providing support at events
- Inputting and authorisation of Invoices on the Oracle Fusion system
- To respond to Freedom of Information requests. This will involve accessing our systems to be able to provide the required information
- To deal with public enquires as required
- To take minutes for various groups as required
- Ordering uniform for officers and maintaining uniform requisitions
- Answering and making radio calls to officers
- To manage consumable stocks (e.g. PCN rolls, PCN bags, Fixed Penalty and DOC Producer books)
- To attend team meetings, supervision and team/departmental training sessions, taking a lead in your own personal development
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade.

Hours of work - 25 hours per week

Rate of pay - National Minimum Wage

Location of placement
- Enforcement Service, The Alps Depot, Quarry Road, WENVOE CF5 6AA

Contract - Temporary (6 months)

**About you**
You will need:
A basic understanding of Microsoft packages is required - basic use of Word and Excel, as well as use of Outlook.

A knowledge of the Welsh language would be advantageous but is not essential.

A basic knowledge of how local authorities enforce both civil parking and criminal legislation.

A desire to learn new skills and become part of the team, to ensure that the team can function at the highest level, supported by the management team.

No experience is required although some basic office administrative experience would be desirable.

Due to the sensitive nature of some of the work of the Enforcement Service, you will need to be discreet and have the ability not to disclose this information to persons not authorised to receive the same.

**Additional information**

The main office will be The Alps Depot, Wenvoe. You will be working alongside the Enforcement Manager, the Enforcement Technical Officer and the Enforcement Supervisor. Good interaction between all team members will be necessary.

On the job training will be provided by the aforementioned and will be supported by all other members of the team. We will support the development of the person’s skills around teamwork and communication as well as skills development surrounding administration and social media.

The majority of the training will be provided on the job; however, we would be looking to source additional courses surrounding administration and the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) 1984 as well as around the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) 1996 to help develop the individual’s skills within the Enforcement Service.

This would also be beneficial for future employment opportunities either within the police or another enforcement body and will ensure the staff member has a clear understanding of the role and expectations as well as building their skills and abilities to develop the role.

A development plan will be drawn up, looking to build upon the person’s existing skills and qualifications to ensure that they are able to learn the skills required to undertake the role, whilst also developing their skill base and their CV for the future.
