At King’s People Partners are responsible for aligning our vision and our people, working as trusted advisors to their client groups and providing strategic and tactical people consulting advice, support and guidance on a full range of people issues.

The Assistant People Partner will work to support the People Partners, playing a key role in providing HR support to a range of stakeholders across central professional service directorates. The role will work alongside the People Partners to implement people initiatives, provide advice and guidance on HR matters to stakeholders and support on cross team initiatives and projects.

There are two postilions available. Both will be offered on full-time, indefinite contracts.

Key responsibilities

You will be working closely with the relevant HR People Partners and management to advise on a range of HR issues, including but not limited to:

- Supporting the People Partners with HR related project work and assisting with the implementation of the relevant People Plans for their areas. This may involve projects related to workforce planning, talent and succession, reward and recognition, learning and development and diversity and inclusion.
- Supporting processes around organisational change, organisational restructuring and TUPE.
- Involvement in resolving more complex queries which are escalated from the HR operations team.
- Appropriate analysis of reports and data to identify trends and work collaboratively with the People Partners to identify initiatives or strategies to address issues.
- In conjunction with the People Partners, develop and deliver training to improve management capability.
- Support the development of frameworks, templates and guidance to ensure a consistent approach to key people challenges across Directorates
- The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post._

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential Criteria

1. Recognised professional certification (CIPD or equivalent) or demonstrable equivalent skills and experience.

2. Experience of supporting or managing a broad range of people issues, from employee relations to organisational design.

3. Experience of working with and providing guidance and advice to senior managers.

4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at a range of different levels.

5. Knowledge of HR best practice and employment law, with an evidenced commitment to developing professional knowledge.

6. Well organised, with the ability to prioritise effectively and deal calmly with deadlines and competing priorities.

7. Able to work on own initiative, with good attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Desirable criteria

1. Experience of working in a large, complex organisation and advising on professional/skilled services.

2. Experience of working in the education sector, public sector or other unionised environment.
