This post offers a starting salary of £20,030.40 per annum **pro rata** plus sleep-in benefits

Care Afloat is an established provider of residential care for Children & Young People who are Looked After. We are looking for Residential Child Care Workers to work in our homes in and around the Skelmersdale area.

Key responsibilities will include providing individualised day to day support with the young person, promoting personal care, working in line with care plans, and ensuring the care, safety and welfare of the young person at all times. Alongside the day to day duties, you will also be supporting the young Person with building social skills, independent living and self-regulation / management of behaviours.

**Essential criteria**:

- It is preferable if the applicant holds a level 3 Diplomain residential childcare or equivalent. If the applicant does not hold a relevant qualification it is essential that they are committed to completing this within an 18 month time frame.
- It is preferable if the applicant holds a valid driving licence and is prepared to drive as part of their duties
- It is preferable that the applicant has experience of working with children in a residential setting
- Ability to Meet the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural and educational needs of our young people
- Ability to work within the child protection/safeguarding policy and practice
- Ability to provide support for young people in all aspects of their education and extra-curricular activities
- Ability to help young people gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct
- Capacity to ensure that each young person’s care plan is followed and amended as appropriate to reflect their changing needs
- Ability to work alongside the young people to help develop a true sense of identity and feeling of self-worth.
- It is essential that you are able to work well as part of a team and on an individual basis and due to regulations requiring workers to be older than the children they are working with, you will need to be aged 21 years or over.
