**About the role**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Internal Auditor, who can deliver with mínimal supervision, to cover the maternity leave of a valuable member of our small Audit team. The contract is likely to be for a minimum period of six months.

You will be responsible for delivery of the risk-based Audit Plan undertaking audits, from risk-based systems reviews to quick light-touch overviews, across all council services and consultancy activities which drive positive change. You will be part of a statutory function that provides assurance to our stakeholders that our services are well-run and that resources are well-managed.

**About you**:
You can be a part or fully qualified internal audit professional, who ideally has experience from a local government or similar regulatory environment.

With your critical analysis and problem-solving skills, you will provide clear and concise advice on governance, risk and internal control, you will be capable of independent working and managing a varied workload with mínimal supervision.

You must be an excellent communicator and negotiator and be able to build relationships and provide consultancy advice, inspire trust, respect and credibility from people at all levels.

You will be part of our small dedicated Internal Audit Team which provides both assurance and consultancy services across the council.

The team structure consists of an Audit Manager and two auditors, and reports to the Council's Corporate Governance Committee and Senior Leadership Team.
