Through transitional employment and training opportunities (real jobs, in real enterprises) and one-to-one strengths-based coaching, before and after people complete their sentences, the Turnaround Project seeks to enable people to turn around their futures.

Transitional employment is different to conventional employment, our work and enterprises provide a supportive environment that recognises the challenges faced by many of the people we support. We therefore seek staff who believe in and will commit to our mission and values, and who have the right mix of skill, empathy, flexibility, and commitment.

We need people who will help us to continue to make our social enterprises a commercial success - we need to sustain our income if we are to provide people with jobs. But we also need people who will share our determination to make the journey through Turnaround a success for our trainees/transitional employees. Like any other enterprise, we need to generate income, but our most important bottom line is supporting people to turn their lives around and achieve their goals.

**ABOUT OUTWORK**:
Outwork is our property services enterprise. Outwork typically operates in crews of three staff working under an on-site Supervisor. We deliver contracts for clients who want us to do as good a job - or better - as any other commercial provider.

Those contracts include grass-cutting; hedge-cutting; maintaining and planting beds; hard surface cleaning; weed-spraying; litter-picking and cleaning of indoor and outdoor areas such as communal hallways and gutter cleaning.

**ABOUT THE JOB**:
Our Grounds and Property Maintenance Supervisors’ primary responsibilities are

1. To ensure that the crews deliver for our customers and

2. To support our transitional employees to develop employment related practical and soft skills, readying them to take up conventional employment.

This is a working supervisor post; supervisors lead and are part of the crew, supervisors work alongside transitional employees to deliver the tasks required.

Together we ensure that when Outwork commits to delivering a contract, we deliver it well, showing that people who have served sentences can do an excellent job and can turn their lives around, making a positive impact for individuals and for the community.

Supervisor posts in Outwork require personal drive and commitment, our crew supervisors utilise their skills and personality to get the very best out of the crews that they are leading on the ground. This includes, helping to promote good working practices, compliance with policies and procedures, and ensuring that appropriate health and safety measures are in place and observed wherever Outwork’s work crews are deployed.

Working in a small organisation, the Supervisors are also required to work closely with colleagues within the Turnaround Project to develop the enterprise.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To oversee the induction, training, and support of transitional employees, enabling them to learn the skills and behaviours required within Outwork and the workplace.
- Providing practical training and knowledge
- Demonstrating good working practices through own work ethic and delivery
- Ensure that Outwork contract requirements are delivered and met in line with budgets, delivery times, quality and customer service requirements.
- Plan and delegate tasks on sites effectively and efficiently
- Assist in generating income and securing opportunities for further contracts by engaging with potential contract partners, through building Outwork’s reputation of quality work, timely service delivery and outstanding customer service.
- Maintain and service Outwork’s resources, including any phones or IT equipment, vehicles, tools, and contract materials (plants etc). Ensuring efficient and effective use of those resources and reduction of wastage. This includes:

- Ensuring vans are well maintained, clean and serviced.
- Raising any issues with equipment
- Ensuring vans are equipped with the necessary tools and materials to carry out your contract requirements daily.
- To ensure that all appropriate health and safety measures are in place to safeguard Outwork’s transitional employees, staff and anyone else involved on sites in which Outwork’s work crews are deployed. This includes:

- Ensuring appropriate risk assessment is carried out in relation to people and working environments.
- Recording and reporting any accidents or incidents however minor
- Contribute to the ongoing development and monitoring of Outwork’s Health and Safety policies and
