Museum Events and Operations Officer
**Fixed Term for 18 months, Full Time 37 hours per week. This role is mostly daytime hours but will include some weekend days and evenings where required and will work mainly at M Shed and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery.**
We are looking for a Museum Events and Operations Officer to work in our private hire events team across our five museums including M Shed and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery. If you enjoy delivering great events in cultural venues then read on.
We are currently focusing on increasing our income through running events at our museums. To do this we need to provide excellent customer service by helping the client enjoy their event at our museum, delivering new and exciting events for the public to enjoy as well as supporting the current programme and private hires.
This includes ensuring the safe running of the event, giving the client and wider culture team any support they need to plan and deliver exciting and engaging events to the highest standards while ensuring our collection of over 2 million objects remain well looked after. We are currently looking to introduce new events around our current offer and you will be key to ensuring these new ventures succeed.
Our events team is led by Francesca Wooltorton, with four permanent event staff on a rota, and a casual team supporting as extra help as required. This role is looking to focus on the team and event management as well as helping to discover and plan new events.
It will be an office based role mixed with hands on operational support and management. We work closely with our venue partner who manage all aspects of the catering on the night with you helping to prepare the venue, support contractors and other staff. In the coming months we will be incredibly busy hosting events all nights of the week along with some early mornings and daytimes so are looking for people who are willing to work to support the operational team at least a few nights across the week including weekends to ensure the events are delivered up to our high expectations.
Your work will contribute to supporting the museum service which is over 100 years old. We think it's special and hope you do too.
If you think you can help us make a difference then I'd encourage you to apply, and we are looking for the right person to start straight away.
**Why Bristol City Council?**
At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation.
Join us and you’ll receive an excellent rewards package including including flexible working and flexitime, membership of the Local Government Pension scheme, and a generous annual leave allowance. In addition, you’ll be working in a supportive environment where you’ll have the chance to make Bristol a better place and contribute to its future.
**How do I apply?**
**For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.
**For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.**
**If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.**
- At Bristol City Council, we value having a workforce as diverse as the city we serve. We therefore welcome, develop and promote people from all sections of the community. Appointments will be made on merit._
