The staff wellbeing team at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust have an exciting opportunity for a clinical psychologist in this specialist area. We are a well-established multi-disciplinary team and are seeking a suitably qualified person to join us to help us deliver our mental health staff support programme. This will include teaching and presentation, both virtual and in person, as well as delivering and managing our post incident support service for staff. This post would be suitable for someone ready to step up from 8a. There is the opportunity to supervise and manage junior staff as well as working under the guidance and supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Main duties of the job

Applicants should have an interest in and experience of staff wellbeing in the acute hospital setting. The role involves supporting the general activities of the staff wellbeing team in creating and delivering psychological wellbeing interventions. The successful applicant will also support the Workforce Trauma Project, which delivers post-incident psychological support to staff.

The post will involve the development and delivery of the staff wellbeing mental health/psychological offer. This will involve 1 day/week (0.2 wte) supporting the OH team providing consultation and direct psychological intervention for staff with particular focus on post trauma interventions. The other 2 days (0.4 wte) will comprise of; providing supervision to junior colleagues, delivering TRiM and CISM interventions, managing TRiM responses across the Trust, assisting in supporting staff in the event of Major Incidents, and developing and delivering training packages, workshops and training to fulfil the current Staff Wellbeing Strategic objectives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To develop and deliver high quality, sustainable, evidence-based psychological support to staff teams at all grades across the trust. This includes group and individual interventions as well as developing preventative strategies (such as psychological first aid).

To contribute to the existing OH MDT to help deliver a support and intervention service to staff, in particular those who have experienced potentially traumatic events at work.

To support the Workforce Trauma Project in delivering its aims and objectives

To support the NUH staff wellbeing service’s programme team with the development and delivery on mental health sessions and resources for staff

To provide professional leadership and consultation to relevant persons and the wider trust in areas pertaining to psychological practice in staff support. Where required, to supervise, assess and evaluate the skills and competencies of junior and unqualified clinical psychology staff

To develop and deliver psychological wellbeing workshops face to face and virtually in collaboration with the wellbeing MDT

To deliver advice, supervision, support and governance to those providing post trauma interventions

To assist the Head of staff wellbeing in the delivery of mental health/psychological wellbeing offer

To collaborate with areas of the hospital involved in the Workforce Trauma Project and develop good working relationships and pathways of care

To co-ordinate and advise on the psychological wellbeing services to meet changing staff and service needs. To participate as a senior clinician in the development of a high quality, responsive and accessible service.

To provide a psychological perspective and propose changes on service development and policy issues, including the provision of care by other professionals within the team as required. To participate on service working parties as required.
