The work of the department is based at University Hospital of Wales (UHW) with in-patient beds located on Ward B6. There are two dedicated urology operating theatres in the Short Stay Surgical Unit with three operating sessions running every weekday. The urology operating theatre has its own dedicated laparoscopic stack system with both single and triple chip cameras, digital recording facilities and Da Vinci Xi dual console system with simulator for training. There is live link technology in place at the Welsh Institute of Minimal Access Therapy (WIMAT) within the UHW campus. The urology theatre also has its own 100W Holmium laser.

All Urological surgery (except cardiac nephrectomy) is carried out in the Short Stay Surgical Unit which provides facilities for post op care. In patient care is carried out in a dedicated inpatient pan-surgical ward manned by advanced nurse practitioners (covid 19 development). All elective surgery is carried out in ring fenced protected elective surgical unit (PESU).

Urology outpatient services are based in a dedicated clinic suite (Suite 18- Urology Out Patients and Diagnostic Centre). This includes multidisciplinary outpatient clinics, flexible cystoscopy, prostate biopsies, intravesical treatments, TWOC/ ISC clinics and urodynamic facilities.
