London, United Kingdom King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An opportunity has arisen to join the busy team of dietitians at King’s College Hospital to provide an essential clerical and clinical supporting role to the department, in particular to the team of children’s dietitians.

This post is being advertised as a fixed-term role as the Special Feeds Unit (SFU) is currently undergoing a review. This means there will likely be significant changes to the processes and staffing of the SFU. The post will initially be for 12 months with the possibility of an extension.

Please note that as we are expecting a large number of applicants, this advert may close early.

Part of the post involves making and delivering special feeds for sick babies and children of all ages from Monday to Friday. You will be reconstituting a range of special powdered feeds, following detailed recipes, provided by the paediatric dietitians. You will also be responsible for managing the provision of a number of ready-made feeds and supplements.

You will be required to liaise with the paediatric dietitians, nursing staff and other members of the wider clinical team. Other duties will include stock control and cleaning of the special feeds unit and its utensils.

In addition, the post holder will work alongside a part time office manager to facilitate the smooth running of the administrative and office functions of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, covering both adults and paediatric services. Tasks include appointment booking, clinic management and ordering of office supplies.

You will need to be self-motivated, reliable and be able to work on your own initiative. No previous experience is required; as thorough training will be provided. Good numeracy, literacy, written and oral communication and computer skills are essential as is the ability to follow instructions and protocols accurately.

You will be responsible to the Lead Children’s Dietitians for the special feeds unit and an essential component of a large friendly team and 1 other dietetic assistant who works on weekends.
