The Company

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a world leading engineering and manufacturing business based in Manchester. With a worldwide footprint, operating multiple manufacturing facilities on three continents, the client is known around the world as a leader and innovator in design, engineering and manufacturing.

The Technical Buyer / Technical Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for ensuring material and services are purchased and delivered to specification, on-time and to budget.

Experience & Requirements
- Qualified to a minimum Level 4 CIPS
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Extensive experience of identifying and sourcing new suppliers, including developing management matrixes and supplier audits in line with company objectives
- Extensive experience of sourcing Engineered and Machined components from Third Party Machine Shops, Foundries, Fabricators etc, worldwide
- At least 5 years’ experience working within a manufacturing and engineering procurement / purchasing environment
- Experienced in supplier relationship and performance management and negotiation

Key Responsibilities
- Day to day activities of purchasing and procurement as per company requirements, including expediting of purchase orders and sourcing alternative products in line with production demand
- Liaise with global purchasing team to ensure strategic business goals and objectives are met
- Manage commercial aspects of sourcing - spend analysis, tendering and business award
- Source and evaluate new products to promote cost savings and efficiencies
- Negotiate, implement and maintain supplier framework agreements
- Undertake Supplier performance reviews / audits to maintain Supplier performance levels for Quality, Cost, Delivery
- Create and implement category sourcing strategies utilising Category Management process
- Implement Key Performance Indicators, agreeing targets with suppliers, measure and report on their performance
- Drive cost reduction, VAVE activity and report all cost saving activity against agreed targets
- Develop long-term relationships with suppliers and implement value added process
- Manage contracts, annual supply agreements and ensure service level agreements are maintained
- Analyse suppliers and products sourced by procurement category and implement best practice to handle routine purchases
- Work closely with Technical and Engineering teams to provide analytical support for projects, new business opportunities and cost reduction through re-sourcing or re-design initiatives
- Achieve cost savings with the identification of alternative source of supply, product, specification or modification, or better negotiation and forward planning
- Analyse movement of goods through the supply chain
- Negotiate, identify and approve alternative sources of supply and Engineering re-design
- Prepare and distribute reports to key stakeholders that analyse supplier quality and delivery performance, with emphasis on improving the poor performing suppliers
