1 year fixed term maternity cover for Band 4 Urology Out-patient Department Nursing Associate - 37.5 hours per week

We are currently seeking a full time Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our busy Urology Department as maternity cover for 1 year fixed term contract.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate excellent inter-personal, communication, organisational and management skills with a drive to promote a high standard of care for our patients. Mentoring and supervision of students and junior staff will be an essential part of the role. We are a forward thinking department, and actively encourage ongoing staff and service development. You must have a compassionate and caring attitude with a real team player approach to every day.

You will need to be an enthusiastic and motivated nursing associate who is keen to develop their skills and knowledge in caring for the urology patient. If you feel you can contribute to the quality of patient care delivery in our out-patient setting then we would be very keen to hear from you.

The post will involve running your own nurse led clinic’s including the paediatric flow clinics, catheter and Trial without catheter clinics. Duties will also cover assisting clinician’s led clinics such as Flexible cystoscopy, Trans perineal prostate biopsies as well as scrubbing for theatre cases including Circumcisions. There will also be some administrative duties as needed.

The post holder will have successfully completed the Trainee Nursing Associate course over a period of two years, and includes obtaining a level 5 foundation degree equivalent qualification and registration on the NMC register.

The role of the Nursing Associate will be to work with a range of Urology professionals within the Outpatient department and will be expected to liaise with other departments on a regular basis. The Nursing Associate will assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service and patient needs while under supervision of the registered nurse.

Maintain an understanding of caring for vulnerable individuals that visit the Urology Department with particular conditions. eg. Patients with dementia or learning disabilities.
