**About us**

B&H Adolescent Service is part of wider Children's Services, which specialises in working with adolescents and their families. the Adolescent Service is a multi-agency hub, which includes social workers, youth justice professionals, mental health workers, family therapists, substance misuse workers, education advisors and other specialist adolescent workers. The Youth Justice team includes probation officers, Police, youth workers, RJ workers and lead professionals in youth justice. The service was rated as "Outstanding" by HMIP in 2021 and continues to deliver a high quality provision to young people and their families, working alongside colleagues in the Adolescent hub, statutory and voluntary partners.

Key principles in youth justice include a Child First approach, which takes a holistic approach to children who offend, offering appropriate support and services to meet needs and access opportunities for developing skills & interests.

We are a trauma Informed service, which means that we seek to understand the vulnerabilities and needs underlying presenting behaviours and respond appropriately. We practice the Relationship
- based model, so that children have one YJ worker allocated to them throughout their journey, with whom they can form a trusting rapport, providing continuity and consistency for the child and family.

We are a restorative service, which means that we hold children (and adults) to account for their behaviour, and encourage responsibility, reparation and reintegration in a way that enables children to learn from their mistakes and engage meaningfully in the process, rather than being punished and further alienated. This also means that we engage with victims, offer support, listen to their views and take this into account. We offer direct reparation where this is possible, with the aim of improving outcomes for victims of crime..

**About the role**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the specialist youth justice team, part of the Adolescent Service hub in central Brighton. If you have experience of working with children & young people and are interested in partnership work in the local community this may be the role for you. The post will involve developing community reparation projects, as part of an initiative to prevent anti-social and offending behaviour in the city. Key to the role is the ability to engage young people, so it requires good communication skills an understanding of the needs of young people and the issues they face. You will be working in partnership with local charities and businesses, community groups, voluntary sector and a range of services, so experience in this type of work is desirable.

As a Restorative Justice worker, you would be working alongside a team of experienced and highly skilled professionals and would have access to mentoring and support, including one to one and reflective group supervision as well as BHCC training & development opportunities.
